New orders disappointed in December 2018, year-end balance positive

In December 2018, incoming orders in Baden-Württemberg's mechanical engineering sector fell 14 percent short of the previous year's level. Domestic and international orders were both down by 14 per cent each. Nevertheless, the annual balance of incoming orders is positive with an overall plus of 4 percent.

Baden-Württemberg's mechanical engineering sector is clearly on course for growth in 2018. Companies are achieving significant growth in order intake, sales and employment. "2018 will be a strong year for mechanical engineering in Baden-Württemberg. Due to political uncertainties, however, we are facing challenges," said Dr.-Ing. Upswing in mechanical engineering in Baden-Württemberg continues unbridled

Stuttgart, September 28, 2017 – Strong results in August confirmed the upward trend observed in the mechanical engineering industry in Baden-Württemberg in the last few months. Incoming orders grew by a total of 16 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The lion’s share of this development comes from abroad. Orders here have increased by 25 percent (euro partner countries +30 percent, non-euro countries +23 percent).
