The VDMA regional association is the network for the capital goods industry in Baden-Württemberg. Order intake in the mechanical engineering sector in Baden-Württemberg slipped into the red in October. The decline compared to the same month last year is 5 per cent overall (domestic: - 1 per cent, foreign: - 7 per cent).
The companies in the mechanical and plant engineering sector in Baden-Württemberg are facing major challenges. In a survey conducted by VDMA Baden-Württemberg, 70 percent of the companies describe their current order situation as weak, poor or very poor.
In July 2020, new orders in Baden-Württemberg's mechanical and plant engineering sector were 7 per cent below the figure for the same month last year. Orders from Germany and abroad fell by 7 per cent in each case.

At a meeting with the heads of employers and trade unions, chambers and associations as well as the regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency, the VDMA Baden-Württemberg emphasised the importance of liquidity support for companies.
